Paavali Velinpoika Kärkkäinen (he/him) is a Finnish choreographer and dance performer based in Helsinki, Finland. He holds a BFA in Dance and Choreography from Den Danske Scenekunstskole in Copenhagen, Denmark, and is currently pursuing an MFA in Dance Performance at Theatre Academy of the University of the Arts Helsinki.
At the core of Kärkkäinen’s choreographic practice is the moving body as a medium for creating immersive realities that explore experiences and questions of queerness. His work investigates how bodies shift their presence through the interplay of imagination, perception, and the fluidity of sensory experience. Through choreography, he seeks to create spaces where embodied imagination opens new ways of sensing, relating, and becoming and sometimes speculating, what the reality or future could look like. Based between Helsinki, Finland / Copenhagen, Denmark. |
